shave her head, but the buzz cut isn’t a cry for help — it’s a show of solidarity for her childhood friend Summer Holt Miller, 36, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
Miller, who has already undergone a double mastectomy, will begin chemotherapy on Thursday — and since the treatment causes hair loss, Pickler stood by her friend, a mother of two, by going under the clippers yesterday.
“Cancer does not discriminate,” Pickler told
Good Morning America
this morning. “If this compels even one person to change their mentality toward waiting until the age of 40 for their mammogram, then it will be worth it,” Miller added.
